Quote Of The Day - There Are No Poor People Edition

"And the premise was made that people don’t buy insurance because they can’t afford it. That’s not true. There are people who just decide they want to roll the dice and take their chances that they won’t need insurance."
- Michele Bachmann, on FoxNews

You Should Be OUTRAGED By This

Did you see what just happened there?

Santorum calls Obama ANTI-WAR! For heaven's sake, the man surged into Afghanistan, ordered the hunting and killing of Osama Bin Ladin, still hasn't closed Gitmo - I mean, come on!

Well, he stumbles a bit there. He probably wanted to say something else.

Too Bad About Keith Olbermann

There are people reading this blog who are dying to see what I think about Keith Olbermann getting fired from CurrentTV. Actually that sentence is mighty presumptuous, both in the sense of assuming that people care about my opinion regarding Keith, AND assuming that there are people reading this blog. But what the hell, I'm just killing time until I can leave work for the weekend.

Keith Olbermann? I haven't actually watched more than 12 seconds of that guy since before I was divorced. And after, I never bothered to put money into cable. HOWEVER, I lost interest in him long before he was out of my price range. Look, the first time he had one of those "special comments" it was refreshing. I thought, here's a guy who is even angrier at George Bush's overreach than I am! But then he did another one, and another one, and it became pretty clear to me that he was just acting up to get ratings. Don't kid yourself, nobody is that angry that regularly. And I don't need that in my pundits, even the pundits on my side.

There's no point in screaming at me, hoping you'll drown out the opinions of your rivals. I will automatically listen to the guy who isn't screaming.

The good news is when Rush is dumped next month to make room for Mike Huckabee's show, we can all say that it's not like they never fire liberals. Win!

Never Forget Who The Real Heroes Are

Sitting inside a coffee shop during a recent 30-minute interview, Walsh had several of his trademark characteristics on display: a feverish intensity, an embrace of rhetorical combat and unfettered criticism of (Tammy Duckworth) his opponent, who lost both of her legs and part of her right arm in 2004 after her helicopter was struck by a rocket-propelled grenade.

“I have so much respect for what she did in the fact that she sacrificed her body for this country,” said Walsh, simultaneously lowering his voice as he leaned forward before pausing for dramatic effect. “Ehhh. Now let’s move on.”

“What else has she done? Female, wounded veteran … ehhh,” he continued. “She is nothing more than a handpicked Washington bureaucrat. David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel just picked her up and dropped her into this district.”
- Politico interviews Joe Walsh on the occasion of his upcoming battle to retain his seat in Chicago's 8th Congressional District. I wish I had sound on that "ehhh". Makes all the difference in the world! In print, I gotta say, it appears a little insenstive towards our veterans.

The Free Market Solves Another Problem

Privitization always results in a better deal for you, the consumer. Even in Kindergartens!

If you chose a public school for your kid's kindergarten, you would only be shelling out a couple hundred in taxes. But this way, with $4700 at stake you can choose the more sensible option, which is to avoid kindergarten altogether. Save up for high school! Then, don't put your kid in that either because schools have a liberal bias and they're better off just doing their learning at home, in front of a computer, from Conservapedia.

The Free Market solves another problem.

Another State Politics Rising Star

People say, government is being ruined by politicians! Let's get some new blood in there, people who aren't going to keep making the same mistakes over and over again. And in South Carolina, one man is working to make Government smaller: 25 year old Republican State Representative Erik J. Bikas.

Admittedly, he's literally making it smaller by failing to show up for work, and he's still drawing a salary. But that doesn't make him any less of a hero.

Welcome to the Senate, Orly Taitz

Am I being a little premature? After all, Taitz is leading in the polls. Just because the California GOP is endorsing someone else, doesn't mean that we're not just a few short years away from President Taitz.

NRA Begins Selling Hoodies With Pocket To Conceal Handguns

NRA Begins Selling Hoodies With Pocket To Conceal Handguns:

As a followup to my previous post, young African Americans should probably buy these hoodies along with the guns, in states where they have a right to protect themselves against white aggressors AND conceal their weapons. Florida is definately in!

A Solution We Can All Live With

This piece on Townhall.com got me thinking.
...It’s all the more amazing because this week the Chicago Sun Times revealed that a nephew of former Obama chief of staff Bill Daley, Richard Vanecko, may have confessed to killing someone eight years ago, in a case “where irregularities in the investigation, including false official reports and a case file that went missing” may have contributed letting a Daley of Chicago get away with murder. And you know what? The kid that allegedly got killed by Vanecko? His name was David Koschman and he looks a lot like my son.
There's more to the piece than that but to tell the truth, it's a little hard to follow. However, this one fact seems crystal clear to me. Like the Vanecko/Koschman incident reported above, most violent incidents in this country are "white on white" in nature - white people attacking or killing other white people.

White people, by and large, are clearly the most dangerous ethnic group in this country.

Therefore the NRA and I would surely both agree that we need a drive to make minorities aware, and encourage them to purchase guns to defend themselves. This is not a new idea. You may recall that a few years ago John Derbyshire opined that a high-school shooting would have been less of a bloodbath if all the students had been armed, on the grounds that one of them might have mowed down the assailant early on. This would be the same deal. Surely the pundits will agree that if all African-American youths in Florida were likely to be carrying a pistol, Trayvon Martin would have been less vulnerable to George Zimmerman's attack. He'd have thought twice about pulling out a gun, right?

So now I want to encourage all minority youths to arm themselves as soon as possible. Your safety depends on it.

Good On 'Em

Republican Presidential Candidates condemn the way the Travyon Marin has been handled. Their statements are welcomed.

Common Ground

Watch Rick Santorum agree with me!

It's kind of adorable watching him realize around the :40 mark that maybe he's climbed into a talking point where he shouldn't be. Listen pal, you're the one who demonized teleprompters.

While I'm at it, this is a great argument for your grade school English. Always avoid double negatives, especially double negative campaigning!

Still obviously the point he was TRYING to make is the same one I made a few weeks ago: do you want to lose with a sad attempt to pander to both sides, or do you want to lose with a rock-ribbed conservative like Santorum? I say again, go down blazing.

It's Not Racist, It's Anti-American

A little controversey over this picture below, which was swiped from elsewhere to illustrate a blog post by Tara Servatius, who used to be a Florida radio personality before she was fired because she used the picture:

Let's just ignore the KFC for a second, shall we? My question is, how does depicting the Commander in Chief like this NOT embolden the enemy? I mean, if you're a terrorist isn't this exactly what you're looking for to boost morale?

"Maybe It's Time To Go After The Obama Children"

You know the great thing about being a concern troll is that I can say give perfectly good advice and know that it won't have any impact. For example, I am just about to advise the right wing that attacking Obama's children isn't going to make them more popular. Will the right wing listen to people like me? No, they'll listen to people like her.

Of course she also says "take the shots at the public figure, don't start attacking their children" in the same clip. So she's probably NOT endorsing smearing pre-teens. Check back tomorrow though, and I'll find someone who will.

Quote Of The Day: We Are A Race Blind Society Edition

"This young man has been deprived of life and that’s an enormous tragedy, and we all should have prayers for his family and those who are left behind. So it’s a great tragedy, that’s the first thing to say. Secondly, I’ve always said that obviously we’re not a race-blind society. We aspire to be one, we work toward it, we’ve gotten better, but we are not yet."
-Condaleeza Rice, commenting on the Trayvon Martin incident. Doesn't her lack of race-blindness make her a racist?

President's 12 Year Old Daughter In Liberal Press Cover-up!

Let me open by admitting that I'm surprised this story isn't getting more traction in certain circles.
Have you heard that Malia Obama, the president’s daughter, is reportedly spending her spring break in Oaxaca, Mexico? Allegedly, she’s jetting off with some of her classmates and 25 Secret Service agents to a country that the State Department has said all Americans should avoid. But something is different about the latest “Obama vacation controversy:” references to it are disappearing from the Internet — and fast.
Couldn't find anything about this on Fox News, for example! OMG, FOX NEWS IS IN ON IT!

It's not like it's a big secret though, because the President commented about Malia's being okay after the Mexican earthquake. And the press secretary released a statement that they did ask the news media to "not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest."

So people who are raising a fuss about this either think that the American people have a right to know what Malia is up to, or they think that the press who cooperates with this request are in the pocket of the Obama Administration.  However as I said, this isn't getting a lot of traction so it seems that most people think it's reasonable to keep our noses out of the Obama children's lives. Which means, I guess, that most people are reasonable.

I can live with that.

Followup - DeNiro Really DOES Apologize

This screen grab from FoxNews.com just now. Normally I'd cut and paste, but what's with the picture of Mitt? Has Ailes decided they might as well start loving Mitt after all, so much that they'll put him in all the stories? Or is it an illustration to demonstrate that despite DeNiro's slanderous words, Mrs. Romney is not a white woman?

Anyway well played, RNC, for recognizing the terrible stigma that being called "white" engenders nowadays.

Robert De Niro Issues An Apology

So this happened - Newt (who?) Gingrich got mad at Robert DeNiro.
Newt Gingrich is incensed about a joke by actor Robert DeNiro at a fundraiser attended by Michelle Obama for the president’s re-election, in which the Academy Award-winning star used the word “white” to describe the Republican field’s spouses. “Callista Gingrich. Karen Santorum. Ann Romney. Now do you really think our country is ready for a white first lady?” DeNiro said. “Too soon, right?”
De Niro, whose advertisers have since all pulled out after he repeated the joke for three days in a row, said this:

"I regret using the word 'white' in my joke. It was a poor choice for the word, and I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make Mr. Gringrich all honkey about it, and I hope that together we can crack this problem, because Newt is a good cracker."

Mr. Gingrich, who is apparently running for president of the moon or something, is demanding an apology from the President for some reason as well. Though it has actually happened, I expect he'll keep on asking anyway.

PROOF That Obama Controls Oil Prices!

Here's a graph from Think Progress.

As you can see, the nation is producing more oil and using less foreign oil than during the B*** years, and yet the prices are still rising! The only possible explanation is that Obama is driving the price of oil up so people will buy less, be forced into using socialist renewable energy. He probably wants us all to take bicycles to work too, which will bankrupt the heroic American auto industry!

You might say, why is Obama doing this in an election year, when he could easily price oil out of the market once he starts his second term? Because he knows he's going to lose against Sarah Palin, that's why! America will demand that Sarah Palin enter the race, then she'll win the debates with Obama (because she's very smart and Obama can't even talk without a teleprompter) and then Obama won't get to make gas more expensive. It's all so obvious!

Oh, and stop getting upset about those "Don't Re-Nig" bumper stickers. They're not racist according to "the dictionary."

Rush Will Not Be Silenced

I only listen occasionally to Rush Limbaugh, because on the West Coast he's on while I'm at work. And also, he drives me insane with his lies and cruel smears. But that doesn't mean I want him taken off the air. Quite the opposite; I want him out there for as long as possible for the same reason that I want Primary season to keep on going - it makes the Republicans look like a buncha crazy people. This, to me, is the whole reason for free speech.

So this boycott might be a little troubling. Apparently a bunch of national advertisers have jumped ship and refused to sponsor the EIB network. Interestingly the Media Matters link I just cited says "at least 52 advertisers have publicly canceled" their sponsorship, while Thinkprogress.org claims the number is 142. I think the difference is made up by companies who never sponsored the show and are publicly saying they won't start now; American Express falls into that category. Anyway, all these people not sponsoring Rush, that's censorship, right?

Nope. What that is, is free market economics. If the government forbade radio stations from carrying Limbaugh, that's censorship. A company gets to choose how it spends its money. Maybe they'd like to associate with a show that has nice things to say about women instead.

Herb Tarlek, salesman
And the exodus won't even hurt Rush. Now he has a number of open sponsorship opportunities for companies that maybe couldn't compete before. A small ammo company, a promise ring manufacturing concern, World Net Daily - here are companies that finally have a shot at the Super Bowl of talk Radio. Can they afford the same rates as the corporations did? That's a problem for the EIB network sales team, who probably all wear loud plaid jackets.

If EIB can't command the same rates for ads, Rush can still work out a deal with stations that carry him to take up the slack. If they refuse, he can always get off of commercial radio and start a subscription only internet EIB. The infrastructure is already there. Is that censorship? No. The founding fathers called it free speech for a reason - you can say what you want, but getting people to pay you for it is not our problem.

By the way, that Media Matters link lists the people who DID advertise on today's show. It looks pretty bad for the big fellah. It's mostly promos for other shows (the station runs them without paying Rush) PSAs from the Ad Council (the station runs them without paying Rush) and the US Army. Of course, those guys apparently paid in advance.

Primary Results: Dump Mitt!

OH YES. PLEASE.

I'm already on record as saying I'd much rather have Rick Santorum as the Republican candidate. Maybe with Sarah Palin as VP though I can't imagine her settling for THAT again. Maybe she can come in rougeing it up at the last minute and challenge him to a debate on the eve of the primaries. Nothing like that has ever been done before, you say? EXACTLY!

Point is, Mitt Romney is not your guy. Mitt is Obama, only taller and... well, let's just say he's taller. Plus he belongs to a weird religion, while Santorum is an uncontroversial Catholic, and they're pretty well regarded nowadays.

Or there's always Gingrich. I don't mean he's a viable candidate. I mean no matter how obvious it is that he should quit sabotaging the race, there's always Gingrich.

Your Boss Was Asking About That Date Last Night

You probably sometimes feel like you're in Stalinist Russia, if you aren't required to give details about your sex life to your boss at work. Don't you? Well, maybe if you lived in Arizona.
The Senate Judiciary Committee voted 6-2 Monday to endorse a controversial bill that would allow Arizona employers the right to deny health insurance coverage for contraceptives based on religious objections.

Arizona House Bill 2625, authored by Majority Whip Debbie Lesko, R-Glendale, would permit employers to ask their employees for proof of medical prescription if they seek contraceptives for non-reproductive purposes, such as hormone control or acne treatment.

“I believe we live in America. We don’t live in the Soviet Union,” Lesko said. “So, government should not be telling the organizations or mom and pop employers to do something against their moral beliefs.”
As long as you could prove you're not taking the birth control pills for sex, there wouldn't be any problem.

Look ultimately, this is a freedom issue. Your bosses has a right to not cover medical expenses if they don't like them, and they have a right to your medical records. It's in the constitution! If you don't like it, go get a job somewhere else. Hah, just kiddin'! Good luck with that. Stop sleeping around, slut.

Journey Into Fear

Everything you need to know about the conservative view of the world is neatly encapsulated in this headline:

Former US vice president deems Canada too dangerous for speaking visit

I suppose I could fill in a few details too.
Last Sept. 26, Cheney was forced to stay holed up in the Vancouver Club for seven hours before it was deemed safe for him to leave. Demonstrators blocked the entrances and at one point scuffled with police.

Cheney critics accuse him of endorsing the use of water boarding and sleep deprivation against detainees while serving in former President George W. Bush’s administration.
How dare they accuse him of such things? Where do they get ideas like that?

Canadians. A savage, warlike people, known for their unpredictable ways and their dangerously low-quality prescription drugs. Even a guy as tough as Dick Cheney is terrified of them. Who knows what they might do next? Write a pro-American editorial? Release another Martha and the Muffins album? Allow William Shatner to tour in a one-man show about his life?

Cheney would be best served by doing all his public speaking via satellite, from a bunker deep, deep down in the Earth. Everything else is just too dangerous, n'est pas? OMG! Sorry, "isn't it?" Didn't mean to frighten you sir.

The Celebrity Elite Support Romney, Disdain Economics

People were saying that Obama had a pretty good shot at the presidency, but that was before last Thursday, WHEN THIS HAPPENED:

Yes, a tweeted endorsement from Jeff Foxworthy, who freely admits that he is no smarter than a fifth grader. Between this and Kid Rock, I think Romney has got the thing sewed up. After all, if you're a fan of Kid Rock you'd naturally gravitate toward a clean-cut Mormon guy like Romney.

Meanwhile, did you know that Obama is forcing you to pay higher prices for gasoline so that you'll vote for him instead of, I guess Ron Paul? It's true! Everything is true if Chuck Norris says it!

The fact is, rising gas prices are actually a win-win for Obama. When gas prices go up, more fuel-efficient cars are purchased, and that means Obama takes the credit (your credit) for the boost in the automotive industry by doting over the success of his stimulus monies. In addition, when gas prices go up, Obama will take the credit (again, your credit) for the increase in renewable energy industries. All at your expense, literally.

...Increasing gas prices to wean us off gasoline to green alternatives is a ruse – a deceptive strategy laid on the backs of American citizens.

This president has mastered cloaking the truth in oratory rhetoric. Again, in last Saturday’s presidential address, Obama hailed his oft repeated petroleum apologetic: “While we consume 20 percent of the world’s oil, we only have two percent of the world’s oil reserves.” He repeated the same thing in early 2011. The problem is that two percent to which he refers is extant reserves not production. That’s deceptive!
I don't normally use this phrase when I'm quoting another blog, but read the whole thing! Obama totally controls the price of gasoline! If Chuck Norris is wrong, how could he have stopped all those criminals in Texas, huh? HUH?

Attention Chick Voters - Keep Quiet About It

If you happen to be one of the small minority of women who use birth control, I'm not saying don't vote Republican. I'm just saying for God's sake, don't let them know you're doing it.

-Fox News contributor Michelle Malkin denounced Fluke as a "femme-agogu tool."

-The right-wing site Jawa Report illustrated a post about Fluke with a picture of a tattoo that reads "Semen Demon."

-Pam Geller wrote that Fluke is "banging it five times a day" and that "calling this whore a slut was a softball."

-Accuracy in Media's Don Irvine called her a "skank."

-Former CPAC Blogger of The Year, Ace of Spades, called Fluke a "shiftless rent-a-cooch from East Whoreville."

-Michelle Malkin guest blogger Doug Ross used "Got Slut?" in a headline and suggested Fluke suffered from "nymphomania."

-Dana Loesch complained the controversy surrounding Limbaugh's three-day "slut" campaign represented a "manufactured" story. (This, before Limbaugh responded to the "manufactured" story by issuing a rare public statement.)

It's the right wing's position that women should not ever, EVER have sex for fun. It's their job to procreate. In fact if you're trying to have a baby and fail to conceive, you are worthless. What are YOU doing wrong? And while we're at it, stop tempting men by dressing in revealing clothing. Cover everything. Except your eyes.

And let's also keep up the fight against Sharia Law!

It's Funny Because All Mothers Are Like That

The story:

Authorities say an Ohio mother has been arrested on charges accusing her of injecting her teenage children with heroin before sending them to school.
The Hocking County Sheriff's Office says 35-five-year-old Shantel Parker, of Laurelville, was arrested Friday at Ohio State University hospital on warrants charging her with two counts each of felonious assault, corrupting another with drugs and endangering children.
Investigators say Parker has been providing heroin and other drugs to her children, ages 14 and 16, for several months.

The tweet, from esteemed nemesis WAMK:

Rush better not call her "a lousy mother" today, or he'll lose more sponsors..“@pinkelephantpun: Holy cow.fxn.ws/yRKtNf

Attention Chick voters! The Republicans hate you!

Obviously I'm missing the point here. This mother isn't like all mothers. Rush lost sponsors for attacking one particular woman. The point is that a woman who testifies before congress is no better than a woman who injects her kids with heroin.
