A Rough Press Conference

Here's some of the questions the Obama lovin' far left liberal media posed at the press conference this morning.

Major Garrett, Fox News: In your opening remarks, sir, you said about Iran that you were appalled and outraged. What took you so long?

Followup: Are Iranian diplomats still welcome at the embassy on Fourth of July, sir?

?: Wouldn't that drive private insurance out of business?

"Chip": Were you influenced at all by John McCain and Lindsey Graham accusing you of being timid and weak?

?: ... how many cigarettes a day do you now smoke? Do you smoke alone or in the presence of other people? And do you believe the new law should help you to quit? If so, why?

My favorite, because it's acknowleged that this is one that Obama knew was coming, and he specifically asked for it. Nico Pitney from the Huffington Post: I wanted to use this opportunity to ask you a question directly from an Iranian. We solicited questions on tonight from people who are still courageous enough to be communicating online. And one of them wanted to ask you this: Under which conditions would you accept the election of Ahmadinejad? And if you do accept it without any significant changes in the conditions there, isn't that a betrayal of -- of what the demonstrators there are working to achieve?

My point in taking these questions and not posting the answers is this - the press isn't coddling this guy at all. They're not being mean either, but it's not the Gannon-fest that people like, say, Warner Todd Huston are painting it to be.

  1. Um... doesn't Major Garrett work for Fox? Who ever said Fox was in Obama's pocket?

And the HuffPost guy... that was a shill question inserted by Obama staffers wokring thru a fake "reporter" from the HuffPo blog. But, HOW does it prove the media isn't on The Obammessiah's side?

  2. Whoever said Obama had to call on Major Garrett? And who said that Fox isn't part of the mainstream media? It's the highest rated TV news network - how much more mainstream does it have to be?

And my point is, even if you buy that's it's a shill question (the administration says they told the reporter he'd be called, not what question to ask) it's an unusually brutal shill question. If Obama does have some evil control of the news folk, he's not putting it to very much use.

  3. It's not that he has control, it's that they (for the most part) refuse to hold him to the same standards they have held previous Presidents.

He isn't forcing them to go easy on him, they (many of them, anyway) choose to go easy, and give him the benefit of the doubt.

  4. You are kidding, right? TheOne has been supreme leader for half a year already and NOW he FINALLY calls on a Fox guy and you say "see, no bias!"

    Dude, really!

  5. Finally unless you count early December.

So that's twice in 8 months. Compared to Bush with Helen Thomas, that's a pretty good record.

So WAMK, shall I put your description of these questions down as "fawning?"

  6. Hey, I can carp about it... but in the long run, if I were president, I wouldn't call on ANY reporter I didn't like. So, I don't blame Obama for snubbing FOX. But, just don't sit there and claim he is the "post partisan" president. That would be a lie.

  7. How would you describe the question from the NYTimes reporter a few weeks ago, asking Obama what enchants him, Piker?

  8. You mean this one:

"During these first 100 days, what has surprised you the most about this office, enchanted you the most about serving in this office, humbled you the most, and troubled you the most?"

I think taking the opportunity on the first 100 days conference to ask what has humbled and troubled the president the most proves the NY Times is trying to smear Obama.

    Haha! Cherry picking is fun!
