Book Burning

I'm against it. Like I often say, I want Rush Limbaugh on the air. I want Mein Kampf  in the libraries. I want the option to reject those opinions myuself, rather than have others pre-emptively  reject them. That's why the founding fathers were so worked up about free speech.

So Pastor Terry Jones, please put the whole Koran-burning idea to bed, or move to North Korea or China or one of those countries where suppression of ideas is just dandy. Feel free to speak out against Islam all you want, just don't burn their damn books.

  1. "just don't burn their damn books", I believe they are his books, he bought them. Isn't it his First Amendment right to burn them if he wants to? Even if he is a vile, small minded human being? He isn't stopping anyone else from reading the Koran. If Pastor Jones wasn't given the media attention, this wouldn't be an issue.

  2. I see where you're coming from, but book-burning is basically a way of saying SHUT UP! to the authors. SHUT UP isn't the way Free Speech is supposed to work.

Besides, unlike Harry Potter books or Beatles records, no rights holders are benefitting from the purchase of Korans. Nobody wins.
