Now There’s Somethin’ You Don’t See Every Day

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) announced this afternoon she will resign from office on July 26 and return to private life, a stunning decision by last year's Republican vice presidential candidate to leave office before the end of her first term.

See it coming? I didn’t.

So what is Sarah up to? Possibly resigning full time to prepare a run for president in 2012, of course. But then again dumping the news late Friday on a holiday weekend… potentially there is a scandal coming down the pike that she wants to be ahead of. Also I suppose it’s the first harbinger of the good news that she got a lucrative FoxNews deal and wants to avoid conflicts of interest.

Pure speculation on my part, I admit. All of it. Probably won’t hear any more until Monday.

What scandal could there be out there? The entire MSM was in Wasilla from Day One of her VP-ship, searching for dirt. If there was any, it would have been found by now.

TV deal for sure.

Just another show on FOX that will beat anything MSNBC puts on.

I think either she is thinking of the Senate, or taking a break, but not President.

But, you can claim a victory today, Piker. You and your pals on the left have destroyed an enemy.

You know what they say, if you can't win in the arena of ideas, ridicule, attack, undercut, hector, push, and hate your enemy away. This is why you guys like Olbermann, Colbert, Stewart, Letterman. They have no class, but they hate real good.

The sad thing from all of this is the lesson that has been taught.

If you pick on a candidate's family long enough, eventually they will quit.

And people wonder why no one wants to go into politics.

I hope you don't mean that. If Palin abandons public office because of whatever mean things were said about her, she didn't belong in public office. We're both better off if we think she quit for more strategic reasons.

So, you AGREE with attacking people's infants just to try to get them to leave office, Piker?

Yep. You ARE from the left.

Actually the motivation for all the attacks was being called terrorists and America-haters. People don't respond well to that.

But that if you really believe that mean remarks drove Palin out of politics, then you're selling her short.
